Bye Bye Sophomore Year

It has been a great year. No more freshman fears, no more uncertainty; instead, I have taken the time to explore my options and look into my inner dreams. I have pinpointed the cause for my restless and hopefully I can stay focused in the present to secure my future. Sophomore year--poosh! now gone. I can't believe it! I really can't.

Honestly, it felt like I just graduated high school. Although I probably don't look it or feel like it since I have now made so many new friends, experienced new things, and learned new stuff. MIT is a sucky school at times, especially one in which it tends to drain all of your energy, but it is also a school that made me realize who I truly am. Being at MIT has led me to accept my ethnicity and to learn more about my cultural background, it has pushed me to my limits, sometimes made me sick with worry or stressed to tears, and yet, MIT also had the power to broaden my views and stretch my self-expectation. I don't doubt one minute that MIT has transformed me into another person.

What will next year be like? I'm not sure. But I do know that I am going to use this summer to the best of its advantages. I am going to read up on all of the novels that I haven't had a chance to read. I will treat each day as an opportunity to learn something new instead of it being a countdown to the next exam. Internship at an investment bank should be interesting; get to see how a company works from up close. Meet some hardcore Wall Street analysts and for real, find out whether a) I'm cut out for this line of work and b) if it's the line of work that I wouldn't mind holding for the rest of my life. Traveling this summer should be fun since this summer will be my first to venture out into another country, on my own, without any sort of parental supervision. It will be a new experience, nerve wracking, I'm sure it will be, but I'm also sure that whatever I go through, this spirit of independence will be a wonderful experience for the rest of my life. I can't wait!
